Each year, this event raises need-based scholarship funds to help students afford the Marymount Manhattan College education they desire. Last year’s benefit raised $1.6 million for student scholarships — photos from the event are here. As in years past, this elegant evening will include a sit-down dinner with esteemed guests and performances by MMC students. Check out a list of previous honorees.
This year’s Annual Scholarship Benefit will take place May 5, 2016 at the Mandarin Oriental in NYC. Details about tickets and more will be posted here — stay tuned!
Paul Polizzotto began his distinguished career in social enterprise in 1989, when he founded his first venture, the industrial/environmental cleaning company Property Prep. A lifelong surfer, Paul melded his passion for the ocean with his talent for entrepreneurship and pioneered Urban Watershed Cleaning and Zero Discharge — two technologies that scrub toxins from parking lots and industrial sites, thus preventing run-off from entering storm drain systems and polluting the waters into which they feed.
As President of EcoMedia℠, the company he founded in 2002, Paul created and oversees the EducationAd℠, WellnessAd℠, EcoAd®, Viewers to Volunteers™ (V2V), and Volunteering with the Stars (VWTS) advertising programs.
Paul has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the EPA’s “Environmental Hero” recognition (1999), the Santa Monica Baykeeper’s and the Waterkeeper Alliance’s “Keeper Award” (2002), and the Coastal Living Leadership Award (2003). In 2006, he was named a Public-Private Visionary by Vanity Fair magazine.
In 2009, Paul and the team at EcoMedia earned the US Conference of Mayors Award for Excellence in Public Private Partnerships, and in 2012 and 2013, were recognized with Edison Awards for Social Innovation and Social Impact. In 2014, Paul was honored to receive the Starlight Children’s Foundation’s “General H. Norman Schwarzkopf Leadership Award,” which recognizes individual and organizational leaders who are doing extraordinary work to advance the common good and strengthen their communities.
Paul serves on the Board of Directors at Publicolor and Grades of Green. He is a frequent guest lecturer at business schools across the country, including at USC’s Marshall School of Business, where he is a Senior Fellow and an inaugural member of the Board of Advisors for the Brittingham Social Enterprise Lab.
The Annual Scholarship Benefit is a chance for the MMC community to come together and support the education of the next generation of Marymount Manhattan students. We are thrilled to have Paul as our honoree and can’t wait to share more information about this exciting event!
