Dr. Paul Grayson joined Marymount as director of the Counseling and Wellness Center in 2009. Previously, he was director of counseling at New York University, director of counseling at SUNY-Purchase, and associate director of counseling at Wesleyan University. He is pleased to be part of Marymount’s small, collegial college community and finds the work of college counseling to be as engrossing and gratifying as when he started his career. “It’s a privilege when students confide their concerns in me and we can work together to find answers,” he says.
Dr. Grayson has a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a masters in English literature from New York University. He has written and edited extensively in the field of college mental health, including editing the treatment guide, “College Mental Health Practice,” and the self-help guide for students, “Beating the College Blues.” Since 2011, he has been editor of the Journal of College Student Psychotherapy
